From my first glance of these beautiful knives, I knew they should be called "Gekko”, or月光, which means "Moonlight" in Japanese. From every angle, the Gekko knife reminded me of the way that the shape and light of the Moon changes each night.
Each knife has a unique & beautiful Tsuchime (“Hammered pattern”) textured Damascus blade. They feature a hand sharpened and hand honed VG-10 stainless steel blade core that is clad on both sides by a 15-layer Damascus stainless steel (HRc. 60-61. 50/50 symmetrically ground double beveled edge).
The lower half of the blade has beautiful Damascus layers and matches well with the top half, with its hammered texture and silver-grey coloring.
The knives use a full-tang construction, and have a stainless steel bolster and handle rivets.
For those who would like to try Japanese knives for the first time, or to own a beautiful Damascus knife, our range of high quality and moderately priced Gekko knives are highly recommended.
