The Bunka is a general-purpose kitchen knife that used to be just as popular as the Santoku, but has become less commonplace in recent years. With its tall blade, the Bunka knife is particularly suitable for cutting vegetables or fruit and the triangular tip area is particularly useful for detailed work and cutting fish or meat.

This knife comes with 50/50 double bevel edge geometry for both right and left handed use.
For your information, Japanese Kitchen knives are generally designed for right hand use with a slightly thicker and rounded grinding on the right side blade and a less rounded (almost straight flat) grinding on the left side blade. However, both right and left hander can use the knives.

This is the Powdered High Speed Tool Steel blade kitchen knife that has a rust resistance for easy maintenance. However, it may get rust, if kept in wet condition.

I am a beginner with Japanese traditional knives. Before I had a Santoku knife (made in EU). When I got this Bunka, I understood that life will never be as it was. It is a great knife for me, the cutting process has become a pleasure. I understood what means sharp knife. I am happy with my first purchase. The seller is great, order to Lithuania less then 10 days. I started to look for next Japanese knife.
The knife has been great so far. Very attractive, great shape for use, and sharp, of course. The shipping speed was unbelievable. From Japan to my doorstep Boston in less than 36 hours.
For my part, I'm still a beginner when it comes to this type of knife and this one is one of the first in a higher price range that I've bought. So far I've only used knives made in Germany, but the Kiritsuke from Kanetsugu is in a completely different category. First of all, it is stunningly beautiful. When I saw the overall picture between the blade and the handle, I wondered if I should even use the knife for everyday things. But after the first use I changed my mind. In the meantime I use it almost every day at home and also in my work and especially the knife sheath allows the knife to be easily carried from one place to another without having a bad conscience. ...honestly, you no longer cry when cutting onions, just awesome, I tell you. At the end I would like to thank you for the sale, although the knife had to travel to Germany, it arrived lightning fast and above all safely.
