The Bunka is a general-purpose kitchen knife that used to be just as popular as the Santoku, but has become less commonplace in recent years. With its tall blade, the Bunka knife is particularly suitable for cutting vegetables or fruit and the triangular tip area is particularly useful for detailed work and cutting fish or meat.

This knife comes with 50/50 double bevel edge geometry for both right and left handed use.
For your information, Japanese Kitchen knives are generally designed for right hand use with a slightly thicker and rounded grinding on the right side blade and a less rounded (almost straight flat) grinding on the left side blade. However, both right and left hander can use the knives.

This is the Powdered High Speed Tool Steel blade kitchen knife that has a rust resistance for easy maintenance. However, it may get rust, if kept in wet condition.
The knife is by far the most efficient cutting utility in my kitchen. It’s responsive, sharp, well-balanced in weight and handling, easy to clean and stored, and enjoyful in each cut. Kanetsugu Zuiun Series R-2 Damascus Bunka is a product of a different , "100-th Anniversary" philosophy - Beauty comes first. The Damascus pattern and polishing the blade is beautiful. Design of the handle is also focused on beauty. White spacer, golden brass pin, elegant septagon shape. A really spectacular Anniversary Edition Cons ? The handle is too slim for a good grip, compared to the commnon size octagon. All angles of the handle are too sharp. Inconvenient for everyday use. The first and the last thing must be corrected and polished by a practical user. Unless the knife with a realy beautiful black saya is only presented together with the rest of the unique knives collection :) My sixth knife I bought from JCK. The service is perfect, as usual.
