We started to offer the Suien Chinese Cleaver over 10 years ago. Since then, the Suien Chinese Cleaver has been immediately recognized as a great product by our professional customers because of its fine cutting performance and affordable price range compared to other famous Chinese Cleavers made in Japan.
This time, the maker, Suien, has just introduced this VG-10 Damascus Knife. There are many types of VG-10 Damascus knives available today, but we bring you Suien Damascus knives characterized by two major features that are also advantages.
The first feature is that the blade is forged. This blade is hammer forged and made one by one, in the hands of experienced blacksmiths come in limited quantity and naturally require much more effort and time compared to products made by machines. Fine forging process maximize the steel characteristics and bring the fine result which the machine making process can not achieve.
Another feature is that the blades are hand sharpened with water wheel stone by highly skilled sharpening professionals. Maker Suien has confidence with its sharpness and fine sharpening works by experienced sharpener.
The Gyuto is the Japanese version of the classic Western Chef’s knife. It can be used with a variety of different cutting techniques to achieve a wide range of kitchen tasks and is suitable for cutting the vast majority of meats, fish, vegetables and fruits. The Gyuto is true multi-purpose knife.

This is the Stainless steel blade kitchen knife that has a good rust resistance for easy maintenance. However, it may get rust, if kept in wet condition.
Excellent knife with beautifully constructed handle. Very comfortable in the hand and arrived with a perfect edge. Would highly recommend this knife as a well crafted all around knife capable of handling anything you throw at it.
The craftsmanship of this knife is impeccable. It is sharp, the perfect weight, and precision. It's small, but perfect if you work in tight spaces. I love this knife. Highly recommended.
Let's start with the positives. The thin, ultra sharp blade cuts beautifully, and due to its thinness, the knife is light and nimble, which makes it great for precision cutting. The small size is great for home use on small chopping boards, where space is scarce. And the blade looks fantastic. On the negative side, the handle is very thin, too thin for my taste. It makes the grip slightly awkward for me. Due to the metal not going through the whole length of the handle, the knife's balance feels blade heavy, which is not my preference. Overall, it is still a very nice knife for the price, but I am considering having the handle replaced in the future.
it was a gift to my sister who's a professional chef. She liked the design and grip.
