*Important Information About Purchasing a Wooden Saya: You may already know that knives produced by different manufacturers will vary in their dimensions, for example: Hattori’s Gyuto 210 mm and Misono’s Gyuto 210 mm have different blade spine thickness and a different blade width, even though they are the same blade type and share the same blade length. Due to these slight differences, there is a possibility that the Wooden Saya will not fit your knife properly (Especially if it is a traditional hammer forged knife, as the blade spine is often quite thick near the bolster or ferrule). Wooden Sayas are entirely hand crafted, so the exact size, thickness and interior cavity space will vary. Sayas are usually custom made to fit each individual knife blade, so, if you purchase one for a knife you already own, there is a possibility that it will not fit perfectly. In order to avoid this problem, we strongly recommend purchasing a Saya at the same time as your knife, so that the necessary adjustments can be made during the fitting process. Also we regret that, due to the high cost of shipping low-priced items, it is not acceptable to order a wooden Saya (Sheath / Scabbard) on its own; To save on shipping costs, please purchase your Saya along with other items that can be shipped together.

Fits perfectly for my Tanaka blue 2 gyuto. This saya doesn’t scratch easily compared to my plain black lacquered saya and doesn’t leave oily marks from your fingers.

Overall, I’m am very much enjoying my Gyuto and having such a nice and safe Saya to put it in makes me and my wife very happy. The only thing that makes me give this 4 and not 5 stars is the lock pin. I’m always worried I’m going to loose it one day. Because I don’t want to detract from the beauty of the Saya, I don’t want you to add a string on it but I was thinking if you put a small magnet on the hilt and some iron chips on the lock pin or vice versa, that would be ideal. Otherwise it’s a beautiful work of art for my Gyuto.
