This Super-fine #6000 Grit Whetstone includes natural whetstone powder to ensure that it cuts smoothly and provides good feedback when sharpening. We recommended using this whetstone as your final finishing stone, since it is capable of producing a precise, well-refined edge, which is suitable for a wide range of everyday cutting tasks .
This whetstone comes attached to a sturdy wooden base and also includes a Nagura dressing stone.
How and when to use the Nagura dressing stone:
During the sharpening process, particularly when using super-fine grit finishing stones, the stone surface can sometimes develop slippery black areas that no longer cut well. With a little water, you can use the supplied Nagura dressing stone to remove these slippery black areas. Similarly, after flattening your whetstone with a coarse abrasive (Such as a diamond flattening plate, a ceramic flattening stone, or 'wet&dry' silicon carbide paper), the Nagura dressing stone can be used to smooth and refine the surface of your finishing stone.
Sharpening Tips:
This Super-fine Whetstone does not need to be soaked in water before sharpening. The whetstone can be used immediately after its surface has been thoroughly wetted with water. To ensure a smooth and efficient sharpening experience, we recommend that you occasionally re-wet the surface of the stone during sharpening. Before storing your whetstone, please air-dry the stone in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and other sources of heat.
