For those who appreciate the beauty of a finely polished blade and precise, highly refined blade edges, we offer this Super-fine #8000 Grit Whetstone.
To ensure that this whetstone cuts smoothly and produces a fine level of polish, it is made with a high-quality powdered alumina. We recommended using this whetstone as your final finishing stone, since it is capable of producing a precise, very refined edge, which is ideal for those special cutting tasks that require extra sharpness.
This whetstone comes attached to a sturdy wooden base and also includes a Nagura dressing stone.
How and when to use the Nagura dressing stone:
During the sharpening process, particularly when using super-fine grit finishing stones, the stone surface can sometimes develop slippery black areas that no longer cut well. With a little water, you can use the supplied Nagura dressing stone to remove these slippery black areas. Similarly, after flattening your whetstone with a coarse abrasive (Such as a diamond flattening plate, a ceramic flattening stone, or 'wet&dry' silicon carbide paper), the Nagura dressing stone can be used to smooth and refine the surface of your finishing stone.
This Super-fine Whetstone does not need to be soaked in water before sharpening. The whetstone can be used immediately after its surface has been thoroughly wetted with water. To ensure a smooth and efficient sharpening experience, we recommend that you occasionally re-wet the surface of the stone during sharpening. Before storing your whetstone, please air-dry the stone in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and other sources of heat.

Nice finish whetstone but I prefer #6000 that one that I bought 8 years ago , looks more fine that this one
I first purchased your 400/1200 grit whetstone and it really made a difference in the quality of the edge of my knife. So I went all the way and then purchased your 8000 grit whetstone and I love it! I can now test my finished sharpened edge by dropping a tomato, about a foot above my sharpened knife, with the knife slanted at a 45% angle and wow. Gravity alone, plus the finely sharpened edge of Japanese VG-10 stainless steel slices them in two every time. What fun – my food preparation hasn’t been the same since!
Excellent fine stone!!! Aaa.
Easily makes my Japanese knives as sharp as when I first purchased them.
