Sukenari VG XEOS — Next-Generation Stainless Steel Series

Sukenari VG XEOS — Built on a Legacy, Ready for What's Next

For decades, VG-10 has been one of Japan's most respected stainless steels for kitchen knives. It is not a steel that gives up its potential easily. Across Japan, the finest knife makers and craftsmen have spent years — sometimes entire careers — studying it, testing it, and pushing it to find out just how good a stainless knife could be.

Sukenari's Master Hanaki was one of them.

He devoted himself to VG-10 with the same seriousness. Through years of research, trial, and refinement, he learned how to bring out the best in this steel — its sharpness, its edge retention, its resistance to rust. That deep knowledge became the foundation of everything Sukenari does.

When Takefu Steel Company developed VG XEOS, it was built on that same tradition — and Master Hanaki recognized it immediately. VG XEOS takes what VG-10 always promised and goes further. The edge lasts longer, and it holds its sharpness the way a carbon steel knife does, while being even more rust-resistant and easier to care for than VG-10.

Master Hanaki has heat-treated the VG XEOS core to HRc. 61 (±1), drawing out the steel's full potential for sharpness, toughness, and lasting performance.

These new Sukenari VG XEOS knives could only have come from a maker who truly understood VG-10 first. They carry everything Master Hanaki learned over a lifetime — and open a new chapter for what a stainless kitchen knife can be.
