SHIKI VG-10 Damascus SSD-7 Santoku 180mm (7 inch, Walnutwood Handle)

Availability: Normally ships the same day

Master Masui chose and established the brand name “SHIKI” 四季 (“Four Seasons”) because his goal was to make a collection of hand-made knives that were just as beautiful as the four seasons of Japan. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter; each season is beautiful and has its own distinct natural wonders, sights, sounds, smells, tastes, traditions and atmosphere.

This knife has a Natural Taste of mirror-polished VG-10 Damascus stainless steel blade (HRc. 60-61) and a hand-contoured Wanlnut wood handle with nice accent of Blue/Red/Green Fiber Spacers.

The tall blade and rounded nose / tip of the Santoku make it a versatile knife that is well suited to cutting meat, fish, or vegetables; Hence it’s name, which literally means “Three-purpose”. The Santoku is often recommended as a multi-purpose kitchen knife.

This knife comes with 50/50 double bevel edge geometry for both right and left handed use.

For your information, Japanese Kitchen knives are generally designed for right hand use with a slightly thicker and rounded grinding on the right side blade and a less rounded (almost straight flat) grinding on the left side blade. However, both right and left hander can use the knives that have double bevel edge sharpened 50/50 without problems.

We believe quality and performance of Japanese knives are best in the world and hope you enjoy fine craftsmanship and spirits from your new knife. With proper cares, every Japanese knife can be your special cooking partner for long time.

I recommend this product
The handle is very comfortable, does not fit a large hand, and the knife did not come so sharp it had to be sharpened a bit

Very fun for home use. Less good for daily work in a restaurant

Work Knife

Needed an affordable Knife for work, and this is that, sharp out of the box, maintains its edge well for 12 hour shifts in the kitchen
